Wildlife Photographer
Karamjeet Singh is a wildlife photographer and Elite Expedition naturalist / guide based in the Indian Himalayas, working primarily in Ladakh. For over 10 years, he has been deeply involved in fieldwork with Himalayan wildlife, with a strong focus on the Himalayan brown bear and other rare high-altitude species.
His work centres on documenting elusive animals such as snow leopards, Himalayan brown bears, Pallas’s cats, lynx, wolves, and other mountain wildlife, often in extreme weather and remote terrain. His long-term presence in the field allows him to capture natural behaviour without disturbance, following a strictly ethical approach to wildlife photography.
With a background in journalism, Karamjeet approaches photography as visual storytelling. His images highlight fragile ecosystems, animal behaviour, and the growing impact of climate change in the Himalayas. Alongside photography, he is actively involved in wildlife conservation work, contributing through field observations, awareness, and responsible documentation.
He works closely with conservation initiatives and is a trusted field associate of the Himalayan Brown Bear Trust, contributing his experience and ground knowledge gained through years of working with bears in their natural habitat.
His work has been featured on respected international and national platforms including National Geographic, BBC Earth, Nature inFocus, Sanctuary Asia, and many other publications.
In addition to photography, Karamjeet works as a freelance naturalist and wildlife guide, leading guests in the field and sharing practical knowledge about Himalayan landscapes, wildlife behaviour, and safe, responsible wildlife practices.
Through his work, he aims to build a stronger connection between people and the wild Himalayas, encouraging respect, understanding, and long-term conservation of its unique wildlife and habitats.
