Abdul Rashid is a distinguished Ladakhi mountaineer and wildlife specialist widely regarded as one of the premier guide and trackers of the elusive Snow Leopard, Eurasian Lynx, Pallas’s Cat and Himalayan brown bear.
His professional journey began in the high-altitude peaks of his homeland, where he climbed hundreds of mountains, including several exceeding 7,000 meters. In 2000, he solidified his technical expertise at the prestigious Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) in Uttarkashi, completing intensive training in basic and advanced mountaineering, search and rescue, and first aid. After years of traversing the Himalayas, Rashid shifted his focus from the peaks to the wildlife that inhabits them. In 2009, he founded Elite Expedition, a travel company dedicated to high-end wildlife tours in Ladakh. His reputation for excellence soon led him beyond India, where he now organises specialised expeditions in Central Asia and Mongolia.

- Conservation Commitment: A staunch advocate for the environment, Rashid pledges 20% of his annual profits to wildlife conservation initiatives like building predator proof corrals, feral dog sterilisation- one of the biggest problem for wildlife, employment to villagers who live in the prime habitat of wildlife, educating villagers about wildlife and its importance. By doing all these he manage to reduce human wildlife conflict. He is being awarded by state and local bodies and All Ladakh tour operators association for his outstanding contribution toward conservation of the wildlife.
